Fotocrime
Fotocrime
FOTOCRIME is the new musical endeavor by R.Pattern (aka Ryan Patterson, formerly of Coliseum) and including Nick Thieneman (Young Widows) in the live band. After over a decade as the singer-guitarist of post-hardcore trio Coliseum, Pattern forged ahead on his own with a new vision, sound, and moniker: Fotocrime. Backed by danceable, battle hymn drum machines and layered synths, Fotocrime brings a monochrome clarity to its electronic-meets-organic post-punk with driving bass, single-note guitar work, and Pattern’s unmistakable drawl. Forging a connection between the shadows of the underbelly of the mid-century American Dream, the ghostly corners of post-war Europe, and the present moment, Fotocrime breathes new life into Cold War paranoia, modern-day malaise and smoky noir.
Fashion Week
Fashion Week
The FASHION WEEK sect unites a lovingly scummy cast of NYC amp-heads who have collectively deafened many humans through work with Jarboe, Man's Gin, Nakatomi Plaza, Go Deep, Family, Vampillia and many more this millennium, who within this unit, dispatch a brew of belligerence that remains somewhat unclassifiable, although elements of an awesome host of influences course through the somehow cohesive creations.
Stars and The Sea
Stars and The Sea
"Local three-piece STARS AND THE SEA is shadowy without getting lost in mope-dom. Vocalist Shane Gardner has the kind of baritone that would be just as at home in a tragic country band that listens to lots of Cash as it would in a group of Morrissey-influenced melancholy addicts. With the chugging indie churn of his bandmates on songs like 'Beautiful Odd Girl' or 'Bar Tripper,' you can hear a bit of the sardonic indie-darlings the National at play, but then a song like 'Come to Me' shows more traditional post-punk influences still working their way out." - Baynard Woods, City Paper
The Holy Circle
The Holy Circle
The Holy Circle is the newest band from Terence Hannum (Synths), Erica Burgner-Hannum (vocals) and Nathan Jurgenson (drums). Terence, who is known for playing in the black metal-influenced/drone group, Locrian, takes a completely different route with The Holy Circle pulling elements of R&B, synth-pop, and shoegaze to create something completely new.
Drone Theory
Drone Theory
Baltimore band influenced by the dark post-punk style of early Cure and Bauhaus, and the psychedelic sounds of Spacemen3 and Tones on Tail.
